A Kenya-bound bus (Oxygen KCU 054L) collided with a Rwanda-bound bus (Volcano RAD798B) in Rwahi village, leaving scores injured.

The scene of the accident

Uganda Radio Network (URN) reporter at the scene counted six lifeless bodies. “Among the dead is the driver of the Oxygen bus. The identities of the deceased passengers were not readily available.”

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, the victims died on the spot including both drivers while 30 others were seriously injured.

The victims have been evacuated to Lotom Health Center in Muhanga Town Council by police patrol cars and ambulance under the supervision of the DPC Rukiga and OC Traffic.

He said the preliminary cause of the accident was attributed to too much fog. “Both drivers couldn’t easily see what was ahead of them.”
