Six Confirmed Dead, Scores Feared Buried Beneath Collapsed Kisenyi Building

Scores are feared buried beneath building that collapsed in Kisenyi, downtown Kampala.

A four – storeyed building under construction in Kisenyi zone Muzaana Parish in Central Division has collapsed covering vehicles, motor cycles and workers.

While the territorial Police at old Kampala, the Directorate of Fire and rescue services and the Red Cross are at the scene to help with the rescue operation, the number of people trapped under the rubble has not been established yet.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, six people have been confirmed dead after the collapse of the four storeyed building this afternoon.

Among those confirmed dead, five are male while one is female.

Owoyesigyire says the fire and rescue services have also rescued two children who are currently receiving treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital adding that the Operation of search and rescue is still ongoing.
