Charles Olim alias Sipapa and his co-accused have been charged with six counts of aggravated robbery.
Sipapa was arrested earlier this week by operatives from the Directorate of Crime Intelligence for allegedly robbing Jacob Arok, a South Sudan national, in Kawuku-Bunga in Kampala, in August.
It is alleged that Sipapa and others, robbed items including cash amounting to $42,9000 (Shs1.6billion), four iPhones, apple laptops, a dell laptop, gold jewelry and a 65-inch Samsung tv among others.
Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, revealed that some of the items were recovered at Sipapa’s home in Buwate, Wakiso district.
On Friday afternoon, Sipapa together with his wife Shamilah Nakiyimba, were arraigned before Makindye Chief Magistrate Court on charges related to aggravated robbery contrary to section 285and 286 of the Penal Code Act were read for them.
However, the duo denied the charges.
Makindye Grade One Magistrate Lorna Tukundane and remanded them to Luzira prison till September 9, when their case will come up for mention.
