The Board of the East African Business Council (EABC) Uganda Chapter has appointed Coca-Cola Beverages Africa’s Simon Kaheru as Acting Chairperson, after Madhvani Group’s Jim Kabeho stepped aside to set the stage for a transition.
Kabeho made the announcement during an EABC Members meeting at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, where he was applauded for his 22 years of service to the EABC.
The East African Business Council (EABC) is the regional apex body of Private Sector associations and corporates in East Africa, with a single purpose of driving the East African Community integration process through trade and investment.
The EABC Uganda Chapter Board is composed of Barbara Mulwana, UMA Chairperson; Stuart Jason Mwesigwa, Roofings Group; Jim Mwine Kabeho, Madhvani Group; and Simon Kaheru, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa.
Kaheru said he would carry on Kabeho’s legacy for the good of private sector growth across East Africa.
Before joining Coca Cola Uganda (Century Bottling) where he is the head of communications and public affairs, Kaheru worked with British American Tobacco (BAT) and Vision Group. He would later start the Media Analyst, a corporate communications agency.
Born in 1974, Kaheru is a veteran journalist. He is the first born son of Moses Simon Kaheru and Irene Kaheru.
He prides in “making Uganda shine in the world.” He says many people call Ugandans bad people, “which is something I have been fighting for a very long time and I will continue fighting.”
