The Special Forces Command (SFC) and the Uganda Police Force have been praised for their continued collaboration in enhancing national security.
The commendation was made during the pass-out ceremony of 125 Presidential Protection Guard (PPG) officers who completed a four-month Tier 2 VVIP protection course at the VVIP Training School in Sera–Kasenyi on Saturday, 22 November 2025.
Chief Guest Brig Gen Paul Namawa, the SFC Chief of Staff, applauded the SFC Commander and the Inspector General of Police for their commitment to joint training initiatives that reinforce the country’s security capacity.

“The long-standing cooperation between the PPG [Presidential Protection Group] and SFC [Special Forces Command] remains essential for safeguarding VVIPs and addressing broader security demands,” he said.
Brig Gen Namawa also reiterated President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s guidance on harmonised security operations, cautioning against “blind deployment,” which he said strains personnel and escalates unnecessary operational costs. He congratulated the graduating officers and urged them to uphold professionalism and the core values of courage, loyalty, consciousness, integrity, and ideological clarity.

Training School Commandant Maj Samson Mucunguzi thanked UPDF leadership—particularly Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Maj Gen David Mugisha—for their continued support, and expressed appreciation to the Police Force for entrusting the school with the training of its officers. “I commend the instructors for their dedication,” he stated, urging graduates to always remain disciplined, healthy, and focused on the mission ahead.”
The 3rd Special Forces Group Commander, Col Wilson Bagonza, advised the officers to embrace patriotism, nationalism, and Pan-Africanism as guiding principles throughout their careers. “While I applaud your performance in drills, shooting, and martial arts, I caution you to stay physically fit, and above all, steer clear of corruption, sectarianism, intrigue, and the temptation of a ‘soft life.'”

Representing the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police Simon Okosh thanked the SFC for providing elite, internationally respected training.
He reminded the graduates that they were privileged to learn from highly skilled instructors and urged them to uphold discipline and professionalism. “The partnership involving the UPDF, SFC, and Police is crucial; it’s what continues to elevate our national security standards across the board.”

Okosh also dismissed claims that the army had taken over election security, clarifying that the Police remains the lead agency, with UPDF offering support strictly under police command.
