The Senior One selection exercise for candidates who sat the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) will take place on February 12 and 13, 2026, the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, has announced.
The First Lady made the announcement on Friday while officially releasing the PLE 2025 results at State House, Nakasero. She said Term One for Senior One students will begin on March 2, 2026, and urged schools and parents to respect learner privacy in line with the Data Protection and Privacy Act.
Mrs Museveni congratulated candidates, noting that most were beneficiaries of the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme, which she said will remain free under the renewed NRM mandate.

She welcomed increased completion rates and reduced dropouts, while expressing concern over the declining proportion of boys completing primary education.
She also commended improved inclusion of learners with special educational needs and highlighted expanded transition pathways through seed secondary schools and the TVET system.
However, the minister warned against teacher absenteeism, tasking the Directorate of Education Standards to use technology to monitor teacher presence in classrooms.
Meanwhile, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) said PLE results can be accessed by SMS by typing PLE, followed by a space and the candidate’s index number, and sending it to 6600 on MTN or Airtel networks.
