A security guard has been killed after unknown assailants robbed a fuel station at a place known as Kyenyanya in Buloba along Mityana Road in the wee hours of Monday.
Police say that the incident occurred at Line Petro Station after criminals armed with machetes attacked the security guard identified as Simon Mungusi attached to Protectorate SPC Security, and two other pump attendants.
Witnesses say the security guard was strangulated using ropes and killed. The two pump attendants were also tied up with ropes by the attackers before they (criminals) robbed the supermarket situated at the fuel station.
The robbers are said to have taken off with Shs 900,000 from the supermarket.
Police is searching for the suspects involved in the incident.
“The two pump attendants are helping us with the investigations,” Emilian Kayima, the Police spokesperson told the press on Monday.
He appealed to owners of petrol stations to employ at least two security guards as the guidelines on the private security protection require. He also advised them to install CCTV cameras which he said would be of help in identifying the criminals if such an incident happened.
