Brand Africa, in partnership with Publics Africa, has unveiled the results of the 15th annual Brand Africa 100 | Uganda’s Best Brands rankings at Serena Hotel Kampala. The announcement was made by Thebe Ikalafeng, Founder and Chairman of Brand Africa, and Joseph Kanyamunyu, CEO of Publics Africa, the official Brand Africa partner in Uganda.

MTN, a leading telecommunications brand, was awarded the Grand Prix for overall brand excellence, ranking as the #1 most admired brand in Uganda across multiple categories.

While 60% of Ugandans believe in Africa’s potential, the 2025 rankings reveal that only 23% of the Top 100 most admired brands in Uganda are made-in-Uganda brands. This reflects the broader continental challenge of converting patriotic sentiment into brand loyalty. In total, 30% of brands in Uganda are African, with only 7% originating from other African countries.

Across generations, Coca-Cola emerged as the most admired brand among Gen Z, Millennials, and Gen X, while Audi was most admired among Baby Boomers.

Africa Brand Leadership Excellence Awards

Award for Distinguished Leadership in the Private Sector – Sarah Kagingo, in recognition of distinguished leadership in the private sector, driving innovation, enabling enterprise growth, and advancing impactful solutions that strengthen communities and inspire economic progress across Uganda and advancing impactful solutions that inspire economic growth in Uganda.

Award for Distinguished Leadership in Industry – Amos Wekesa, in recognition of distinguished leadership in the industry, advancing African tourism, championing sustainable enterprise, and inspiring growth that empowers communities and elevates the continent’s global presence.

Award for Distinguished Leadership in the Public Service – Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, In recognition of excellence as a transformational leader in the public service, driving institutional reforms that are a catalyst for economic development and inspiring the nation brand.

In congratulating the winning brands, Joseph Kanyamunyu, CEO of Publics Africa, said: “These brands represent more than just products and services; they embody Uganda’s ingenuity, creativity, and resilience. It is now our collective responsibility to support and grow these local champions into continental and global powerhouses.”

Thebe Ikalafeng, Founder and Chairman of Brand Africa, added: “Uganda has demonstrated that it can develop and sustain strong local brands that resonate with its people. The challenge now is converting belief in the country and continent into tangible brand loyalty and support.”

Since its inception in 2011, the Brand Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands has grown to become the most comprehensive barometer of consumer brand preference in Africa, covering 31 countries representing over 85% of the continent’s population and GDP; research-based rankings conducted by independent and globally respected research partners including GeoPoll and Kantar, supported by regional partners; and brand-neutral methodology with no commercial influence ensuring trusted and credible results.
