The Retired Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo has passed on.
The former Archbishop was pronounced dead at Kampala Hospital on Friday where he has been admitted in critical condition. He has died at the age of 81.
He fell ill in 2016 and was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus (throat). He was flown out of the country and admitted at St. Mary’s Hospital Paddington, London in the U.K where he underwent surgery.
In July last year, he returned to Uganda.
Upon return, the family held a thanksgiving ceremony where Nkoyoyo thanked those that offered support to him when he was bed ridden.
A drive to mobilize funds for his medical treatment had raised about Shs 323m from family and friends.
At the time of his death, he was due to return to the UK for further treatment.
Nkoyoyo served as the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Uganda for nine years between 1995 and 2004.
He is survived by a wife, Ruth Nalweyiso, and four children. May his soul rest in heavenly peace.

Oh so sad! I remember him on the same flight coming back home after his treatment and proved strong coz he denied the hostess to give him a wheel chair and insisted he would manage which he did. May his soul rest in eternal piece.
