The Venerable Gaddie Akanjuna has been consecrated and enthroned as the new Bishop of Kigezi Diocese.
Accompanied by his wife Charity, Rt Rev Akanjuna was consecrated as the 6th Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
He succeeds the Rt. Rev. George Bagamuhunda.
The function took place at Kigezi High School in Kabale district and was attended by hundreds of Christians.
His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba, the Archbishop Church of Uganda, was the main celebrant.
Speaking at the event, Archbishop Kaziimba asked the Christians to support and encourage the new bishop to revive and develop the diocese.
Former Prime Minister, Rt Hon Ruhakana Rugunda, was the Chief Guest representing President Kaguta Museveni as his Special Envoy.
In his message read by Rugunda, President Museveni urged Christians to continue to work hard and liberate themselves from poverty.
He further encouraged them to participate in government programs.
He donated a brand new Renault car which Rugunda handed over to the new bishop.
Akanjuna was formerly the archdeacon of All Saints Church in Kabale.
