He said currently ladies due for labour and those going for antenatal, are having a big challenge moving from the maternity ward to the delivery ward.

He said the ramp and walkway being used by mothers going to give birth is not suitable as it leaves them exposed to deep sunshine and heavy rains.

He said they want to construct a better walkway but also buy some essentials needed in the maternity ward.

“We intend to raise money to help us with the upgrading the Health Center so that pregnant women are not wheeled under the sun or in the rain. We are going to construct a walkway for our mothers. The whole Project is costing us about she 50 million and as the Rotary Club and our members, we have so far raised about half of that. So we are hoping to raise as much as we can help us cover the difference,” he said.

He added, “so we are working with the hospital administrators to see how the Rotary Club can  complement with its strengths to support them.”

Dr Ezra Muhumuza, UMA Executive Director, expressed his gratitudes to UMA members, and the general public who attended and supported the fundraising drive.

He said as UMA they will continue supporting noble causes that uplift mankind.

He also said, “There is a lot we think that we can continue to mobilize because there is willingness among members to support the agenda in this country. Because we trust our consumers are at the heart of whatever we do as we support any drive that comes to the light of supporting our citizens.”
