The founder and managing director of Uganda Funeral Services, Ms Regina Mukiibi has succumbed to covid-19.
She died Tuesday at Entebbe International Airport as she was being evacuated out of the country for Covid-19 treatment, one of the staff of Uganda Funeral Services has told this news website.
Mukiibi is one of the first founders of funeral Services in Uganda. She left her job at the Uganda Commercial Bank and founded a tour and travel company before starting Funeral Services.
Mukiibi won several awards including Best Ugandan Innovator in the senior category for the year 2004, Best Woman Entrepreneur in 2007, Uganda Investment Authority Woman Entrepreneur of Year in 2007 and Investor of the Year National Award in 2009.
She was also awarded as the Phenomenal Woman of Funeral Services Trailblazer in 2013, an accolade she received from Texas in the U.S.
The Ministry of Health has on Tuesday reported 345 new infections of Covid-19 from from 3,217 tests conducted on June 27, 2021.
The country’s cumulative number of infections is 79, 434.
989 have succumbed to death as at Tuesday June 29.
