Police on Tuesday raided the offices of Red Pepper Publications and conducted a search of documents and other tools.
Police secured a search warrant warrant from Buganda Road chief magistrates court to search the offices. Some of the items that the court warranted for search include laptops, Central Processing Units (CPUs), computer accessories, desktops and other documents relating to the Monday November 20, issue.
According to the search warrant, RedPepper is accused of publishing information that was prejudice to security in its Monday issue.
The daily tabloid carried a cover story that claimed that President Yoweri Muuseveni, his brother Gen. Salim Saleh and Security Minister Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde were plotting to oust Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
A tweet by RedPepper stated that staff have been ordered to stop work
