Muslims have been asked to continue doing good and blessing the less privileged in the last days of Ramadhan and post-Ramdhan.
The Deputy Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Ibrahim Ntanda, said the good deeds and behaviour displayed by Muslims should continue past Ramdhan.
He said it’s imperative to keep sharing with the less privileged and continue doing good for the rewards from the Almighty.
The holy month of Ramadan is sacred for Muslims because it is believed to be the month in which the first revelation of the Holy Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family). Fasting is one of many acts of piety that Muslims undertake during Ramadan.
Muslims believe that it is easier to do good deeds during Ramadan because the gates of Hell are closed, as this means that the devils are not trying to tempt people into doing things they should not.
Currently, Muslims are in the last 10 days of Ramadhan, and according to Islamic theology, the last 10 days of Ramadan are considered to be the most significant of the month – essential in the journey of pleasing Allah (SWT).
Not least, because among them is Laylatul Qadr, or Night of Power, the most auspicious night in the year, with the opportunity to multiply the benefits that make it better, more responsible, and more spiritually aware.
“We know that the Night of Decree, also known as Laylatul Qadr, comes with abundant blessings and the mercy of Allah (SWT), in which sins are forgiven, and supplications accepted – and which only Allah (SWT) alone can answer, forgiving humanity and answering its prayers,” the sheikh said
On top of their significance, these are also known as the Days of Seeking Refuge because this final stage of the month is about seeking sanctuary from the fires of Hell.
The last ten days and nights hold even more significance as Allah (SWT) shows great mercy to His creation and these days carry with them very special benefits for Muslims, all of which are essential for our journey of pleasing Allah (SWT).
He made the remarks during the distribution of dates by the Embassy of the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Uganda.
Speaking at the same function the Saudi Ambassador said the donation is a way of helping Muslims go through the Ramadhan period.
He said Uganda and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia join a cordial relationship that should be maintained.
Present at the event, was a team from The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, The team from the office of the Supreme Mufti, selected Imams, Hajji Karim Kariisa from Salam TV, and the Rector IUIU, among others.
