Over the weekend, the designated technician, Mr Andrej from UJP-Praha in Czech Republic conducted the servicing of the machine, according to the Uganda Cancer Institute. Andrej was assisted by local technicians.

In a statement released Monday, Jackson Orem the Executive Director of the Cancer Institute said; “The routine service of the cobalt-60 radiotherapy machine is complete and services have resumes fully”.

He said the servicing was done conveniently on June 9 and 10 (on a weekend) to ensure that the patients were not inconvenienced.

According to Orem, normal full capacity operations of radiotherapy services resumed yesterday, Monday.

“We therefore call upon the general public to seek these services as well as other cancer treatment services and always seek for the right information regarding our services,” Orem added in the statement.
