Bushenyi: Fire on Tuesday gutted Bweranyangi Junior School boys’ dormitory destroying property worth millions of shillings.
According to the Uganda Red Cross Society, the fire started at around 11:00am when all the pupils were in classes.
“Almost 3/4 of pupils’ property was destroyed to ashes,” Red Cross said in a statement.
“Our response team together with the Police supported the rescue efforts. We support schools with fire rescue skills.”
According to Isaac Katondore, the school headteacher, the burnt dormitory houses over 60 students in Primary 4, 5, and 7.
Police have already commenced investigations into the cause of the fire.
