Associate Professor, Alison Annet Kinengyere, the Head of the Sir Albert Cook Medical Library, Makerere University College of Health Sciences, has won the Makerere Vice Chancellor’s Research Excellence Award.
The award was presented to her by Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, during the ongoing 74th graduation ceremony.
Kinengyere is a Cunningham Memorial International Fellowship grant winner (2009), and she holds a PhD in Information Science from Makerere University.
On Wednesday, Associate Prof. Kinengyere and Dr. Caroline Ilako were both recognised for their academic achievements.
Dr. Ilako, who successfully completed her PhD, is a librarian at the College of Computing and Information Sciences.
MUBS student recognised
During the Thursday session, Kevin Atukunda from Makerere University Business School (MUBS), was awarded as the overall best student in humanities.
Atukunda achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.84.
He walked away with a Shs1m cheque from Makerere University Convocation chair, George Turyamureeba.
Turyamureeba, on behalf of the convocation executive, presented the award of academic excellence to Atukunda.
According to the Nakawa-based campus, female students outshone their male counterparts on this year’s first-class list.
According MUBS registrar’s office, more females will graduate with first-class bachelor’s degrees as compared to males across all MUBS campuses.
“I would like to appreciate MUBS staff and the MUBS council for the support rendered to our students to enable them to reach this milestone today,” said Prof Moses Muhwezi, Ag. Principal at MUBS.
He added: “Congratulations and may God bless your journey.”
“I’m happy to report that with the hard work of the Academic Registrar, we have all the academic transcripts for this,” said Prof Nawangwe, on his part.
