The newly wed Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markel are expecting a baby in the spring of 2019, the Kensington Palace announced on Monday.
“Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby,” Kensington Palace said in a statement, as the couple arrived in Sydney at the start of a 16-day tour of Australia and the South Pacific.
The Royal couple’s baby will be seventh in line to throne, after his father and his first cousins, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte.
“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public,” the statement added.
The news comes five months after Harry and Meghan wedded at pompous and star-studded ceremony at Windsor Castle.
Jast last weekend, the couple attended the wedding of Harry’s first cousin, Princess Eugenie, which like theirs, took place in St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.
Messages have already began streaming in congratulating the Duke and Duchess on their forthcoming baby.
British Prime Minister Theresa May tweeted; “My warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the happy news they are expecting a baby in the Spring. Wishing them all the best”.
In a separate statement, the Royal Family said “their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they [Harry and Meghan] have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news [about the baby] with the public”.
On Monday, Harry and Meghan walked out of the airport in Sydney hand in hand as crowds lined the streets to catch a glimpse of their car. After Australia, they will travel to Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.
