President Museveni has ordered flags to be flown at half-mast in honour of deceased Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah.
The communication was released Monday morning by State House.
“Yesterday, at about 12.40pm, it was my sad duty to announce the untimely death of our Speaker, the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, MP for Omoro,” Museveni said.
“I extend my condolences, the condolences of my family and of all Ugandans to the children of Oulanyah and to his wider family,” he added.
Museveni said the government and the NRM will always stand with them and promised to say more about Rt. Hon. Oulanyah in the coming days.
The President also have activated the National Organizing Committee, under the Hon. Milly Babalanda, to organise the official burial of the Late Speaker.
“They know what to do. Thirdly, I direct that the flags in Uganda fly at half- masts until the burial of the Rt Hon. Jacob Oulanyah. This is provided for in the official burials’ procedures.”
President Museveni who is also the Chairman of the NRM said more will be said and communicated “as we go along”.
