The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has revealed that the preliminary results from the recently concluded National Housing and Population Census 2024 will be released next month.
“Preliminary results of the census exercise will be disseminated on the 24th of June 2024,” said UBOS executive director Dr Chris Mukiza.
Dr Mukiza, who is also the census commissioner, was on Tuesday addressing journalists at Statistics House in Kampala.
He said this will be followed by provisional results on 24th September 2024 and the final report on the 24th of December 2024.
“In line with the internationally accepted best practice, UBOS will conduct a Post-Enumeration Survey (PES) in July 2024 with the aim of validating the coverage and quality of data collected during the census,” he noted.
He said by the close of enumeration on Sunday 26th May 2024, overall coverage was 99% with the remaining percentage attributed to residents in gates that were not accessible, working single household members, plus those that refused to be enumerated.
According to Dr Mukiza, the Bureau will stick to the Census roadmap approved by President Museveni as it embarks on data processing, editing and analysis of the raw data collected.
He thanked the general public for the cooperation and support plus responding with enthusiasm to the questions during the just concluded 2024 National Census.
“The Bureau also expresses gratitude to all local government leaders for effectively spearheading Census activities from the district to Village level.”
He added: “To the Enumerators and Enumeration Supervisors, the Bureau will always forever be grateful for your support.”
