According to Isah Ssemwogere, the Savannah region police spokesperson, the lifeless body had marks and oozing out blood through the ears, mouth and nose.

“The incident was reported to police by the former area mayor, Kabale Sulaiman who reported that yesterday (Sunday), the deceased was coming from Kalagala at an unknown time to Kiwoko where he resides but early in the morning at around 8am at a place called Nabale village located in Kiwoko town council, the body was found with marks all-over the body,” explains Ssemwogere.

“He has a wound on the head like he was pierced with a knife. His forehead was smashed with a blunt object and blood was oozing from his ears and mouth,” he adds.

Police says at the time of his murder, the deceased was riding on a motorcycle whose registration number is yet to identified.

Ssemwogere explains that charges of murder and aggregated robbery are being investigated but no suspects have so far been arrested.

The body is currently at Nakaseke Hospital for postmortem.

The 2020 crime report by police indicated that 1,358 cases of murders as a result of assaults were reported in 2020 compared to 1,773 cases reported in 2019, giving a 23.4% decrease. It showed that assaults continue to be the leading cause of murders, followed by murder using blunt objects and murder by mob action.
