Police Recover Abandoned SMG Riffle in Kisoro

Police in Kisoro have recovered a Sub Machine Gun (SMG) rifle said to have been abandoned by the roadside.

According to a statement released by Police Spokesperson for the Kigezi region, Elly Matte, the rifle is believed to belong to a private security company, RPS.

The gun, number SAR NO.UG POL K425455-105348 was recovered at Nyamushungwa village, Mabungo parish Nyarusiza subcounty in Kisoro district.

The rifle contained a single live bullet in the chamber while 3 other bullets are still not accounted for.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the Supervisor for RPS, the security firm to which the gun belonged had prior to the incident reported to Police the disappearance of one of their staffers, Nsenjiyunva Robert.

Currently, Nsenjiyunva is still on the run.

“The gun had one live bullet in the chamber and more 3 bullets not accounted for. RPS supervisor had reported the disappearance of his staff Nsenjiyunva Robert vd SD 14/20/6/2018,” Matte said.
