Kampala Metropolitan Police have concluded investigations into a viral video that showed a man wielding a panga and threatening customers at a restaurant, causing widespread public concern.
According to a statement issued by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango on July 2, 2025, the incident, initially perceived as a potential criminal act, was in fact a staged comedy skit filmed at Chez Boss Mutoto, a restaurant in Munyonyo.
Investigations revealed that the video was orchestrated by a Congolese national, Tokosi Ngoli, in collaboration with a local TikToker. However, the skit was executed without notifying or obtaining consent from all patrons present, some of whom were visibly distressed by the act.
Ngoli has since been arrested and charged with being armed in public. His case file has been forwarded to the State Attorney for further legal action.
Police have clarified that the video does not depict an actual crime and advise the public to exercise caution when sharing or reacting to sensational content on social media.
“Such reckless acts not only incite unnecessary panic but can also attract legal consequences,” SSP Onyango warned.
