Police have placed a Shs 100 million cash reward to whoever will help provide credible information relating to the killing of Susan Magara who was kidnapped three weeks ago and later discovered dead.

Magara, who was a cashier with Bwendero Dairy Farm (BDF) along Kabaka Njagala road in Lubaga was reportedly kidnapped on February 7 at around 9pm in the night.

She is said to have been driving to her home in Lungujja, Lubaga Division when her abducters attacked her. Her motor vehicle was later found abandoned on the roadside with no sign of her.

Today, the body of 28-year-old Magara was recovered after it was dumped in Kitiko in Kigo, off Entebbe Road. Police was tight lipped on details regarding the manner in which the deceased was killed, but only revealed that “she was gruesomely killed by unknown people”.

Meanwhile, at a press briefing held on Tuesday afternoon, AIGP Abas Byakagaba, the Police Director for Oil and Gas who addressed journalists on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura, said that Police is in possession of an audio recording of a telephone conversation that they suspect could help to apprehend the killers of Susan.

Byakagaba asked the public to cooperate with the Police in identifying the person in the recording.

“We appeal to members of the public who can positively identify the voice, to share details in confidence through our toll free lines. We are awarding a Shs 100 million reward to whoever identifies the voice, so as to help us aporehed them,” IGP Kayihura said in a statement.

Persons with necessary information relating to the investigation will contact Police through 0800 199 044 or 0800 199 055.

“These toll free lines will be manned by our officers 24/7 in order to receive any related information”.

In the recording that SoftPower News has been able to obtain, a man speaking in Runyoro language is heard giving directions to the family of the deceased.

The man says; “Magara, do you hear me? Move along Entebbe Road, when you get to Namasuba, slope and you will find HASS Petro station. At the big signpost with HASS Petro station, you will find something in a paper bag. Do you understand?”.

Police believe that the man that was talking to the deceased could have been involved in her killing.

AIGP Byakagaba declined to comment on the claims that in the wake of Magara’s disappearance, the kidnappers had solicited ransom worth Shs 3.6 billion from her family which was later paid.

He also refuted allegations that Police did not act when the reports regarding the kidnap first emerged. He said that the case was reported at Old Kampala Police station the same day Magara went missing ad that police have since been investigating.
