On Tuesday morning at around 1:30 am, there was a shooting in Bukuya sub-county in Mubende district at a bar known as Busega Pub.

A statement released by Police Spokesperson SSP Emilian Kayima, identified the police officer who allegedly committed the murder as Police Constable Sam Mutungi, No. 64038.

Mutungi who has been attached to Mubende killed two people including a UPDF soldier and injured three others at the bar.

“This is regrettable and criminal,” the statement by Police read in part.

The two people who were killed are; Nectaria Kawagga, 23, resident of Bukuya and a UPDF soldier, Private Balode Yafesi (No. RA 216316), 30, who was deployed at Lukwago camp in the mining area in Kitumbi sub county in Mubende district.

The three who were left injured include; Emanuel Kusiima, 21, a boda boda cyclist and resident of Kamusenene who is currently admired in Mityana hospital.

Others are 47-year-old Joseph Mbaziira and 32-year-old Sunday Sentongo another boda boda cyclist who are reportedly out of danger and have been discharged from Kasanda Health Centre IV.

The dead were taken to Kasanda Health Centre IV for postmortem.

SSP Emilian Kayima said that the arrest of the suspected killer will help Police in establishing the truth as well as holding him to account for the criminal action of murder and attempted murder.

“The Director Operations is in the area to support the local police in fighting crime in that part of the country,” Emilian Kayima said.
