He said the body of the deceased was found in his house in Kakajjo, Namasuba by residents on Thursday.

“Circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.  The police are also in close coordination with the Office of the Prime Minister to ascertain his refugee details/status,” Owoyesigyire explained.

His body was conveyed to the city mortuary at Mulago for a post-mortem.

The deceased, aged 71, was accorded a refugee status in 2018 and given a Refugee Identity Card.

According to authorities, Munyaneza could have been strangled.

“We found marks on his neck. It is likely that he was strangled,” said an official at the Office of the Prime Minister who asked not to be named.
