It was all fun at the Lunkulu island as hundreds of music lovers made the long travel to go catch up with their friends in a silent environment away from home.

It was a celebration to mark 11 years of Bayimba festival of the art in its new home at Lunkulu island in Mukono district.

This was the first time the festival which has come to be a household on Uganda’s social calendar, had left its original venue at National Theater.

In Lunkulu, it was a beehive of activity, with revellers, artistes and event promoters flocking in from time to time to be part of the celebration.

A long list of artistes that graced the stage included: Chance Nalubega, Kabuye Ssemboga, Ragga Dee, Percusion Discussion, Red Banton, The SOIL from South Africa, Holy Rey, Maurice Kirya, Shifa Musisi, Jose Chameleone, Fred Sebata, Lily Kadima among others.

But the biggest highlight for many was the camping aspect of the festival, an experience that was a perfect relief from the hustle and hustle of the city.

For those whose intention was to maximize their funside, organizers made sure there was no reason to rest as the DJ stage had schedules running from 3am to 5am.

This year’s Bayimba summed, was a showcase of music, dance and drama, arts sales, poetry, fashion show and exhibition of all kinds.

Below is a pictorial of what transpired in Lunkulu..
