On Sunday, she put on an unforgettable and electrifying performance for the people of Jinja City as PSFU wrapped up season 3 of its Katale initiative.

The last day of the Katale kicked off with a runway show in The Kreative Village where models cat-walked on the stage to showcase different brands by young creatives in the fashion industry. The Kreative Village also had different games taking place like board games, cards, ludo and more.

The Katale featured a fashion and music exhibition, skill-building institutes, a fashion show, and panel discussions. It was an opportunity to showcase the most outstanding fashion works by Ugandan designers.

The session featured a lineup of icons from the creative industry to not only spark the imaginations of young people and women but also interest them in participating in the creative industry as a way of expanding on their sources of income.

It additionally presented an opportunity for them to network with fellow young people, collaborate and get mentorship from the creatives in attendance today.

The show was graced by the Vice Chair of PSFU Borad, Sarah Kagingo, PSFU Chief Programmes and Projects Officer and Founder of the Ideation Corner, Damali Ssali, the LFS Project Director Apollo Muyanja and Beryl Qouture Creative Director Anita Beryl who was among the facilitators in The Kreative Village.

The fashion show aimed at celebrating the creatives in the fashion industry, featured models dressed by Arija Fashions, designs by Rashida Mwiza, Rebecca Nalunga, Joshua Kiyimba and Brenda Maraka.

This was followed by a panel discussion on the future of fashion which was graced by fashion designers and creatives Abbas Kaijuka, Peace Ajalo, Anita Beryl and comedian Moses Kiboneka aka Uncle Mo.

They were able to speak to the young people as well as interest them in taking up these creative spaces, create opportunities for them to learn, build their skills, enhance their capacity in various aspects of the creative business, and even offer mentorship.

Comedian Uncle Mo shared inspirational insights and engaged with young people and women on the topic of how the youth can make money through content creation.

According to PSFU, the creative sector has over the years been a vessel for job creation hence improving livelihoods for those involved in it.

The Vice Chair of the PSFU Board, Sarah Kagingo, said this was through business clinics hosted by key government agencies.

“Notably, this Katale introduces two new platforms for networking and business-to-business (B2B) interactions, that is: #TheKreativeVillage and deal rooms facilitated by our banking partners,” noted Kagingo.

She added: “Katale is a platform for women-led entrepreneurs to interact directly with key business-facilitating agencies in Government on key areas such as tax incentives, public procurement, business formalization and accessing export markets.”

PSFU Chief Programmes and Projects Officer Damali Ssali delivered a brief on how the past two seasons of the Katale faired out, highlighting the event’s growth and impact and why Jinja was selected as the host of season 3.

She also further mentioned how Her Majesty Inhebantu Jovia Mutesi and the Busoga Kingdom played a key role in the event’s success.

She additionally shared her experience with the exhibitors and gave hints into what she envisions the Katale to be in future.
