Café Javas, a fully-fledged restaurant specialising in delivering relaxed and memorable dining as well as delivery experience, emerged winner of the Chairman’s Award at this year’s Private Sector Development Awards.
The restaurant famed for great food, great coffee and great service, received a standing ovation during the annual gala held on 5th December 2024 at the Kampala Serena Hotel as the climax of the PSFU Next Gen Forum.
In his remarks, Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) Board Chairman, Humphrey Nzeyi, said that CJ’s is a homegrown brand that has transcended borders, and established shops in regional markets such as Kenya.
“By recognising CJ’s, we are celebrating the Ugandan Story,” he pointed out at a successful annual gala that saw the best players in the Private Sector rewarded.
Winners:
The Media Personality Award of the Year went to NBS TV’s Henry Mugenyi who submitted a recent incredible investigative piece of journalism, in which he uncovered a shocking story of a fake doctor titled “Stolen Identity: Doctor Know Nothing”.
The Government Agency Award of the Year went to the Ministry of Works and Transport for their Uganda Driver Licensing System (UDLS) project.
The Financial Institution Award of the Year went to Standard Chartered Bank.
The European Union Ambassador to Uganda, H.E Jan Sadek, was recognised for an impactful partnership under Sustainable Business for Uganda and Skills & Governance (SG+) Projects.
“An honour to receive, on behalf of the EU, an award for an impactful partnership, at the PSFU gala. We have an excellent cooperation with PSFU & government of Uganda on the SB4U platform,” said Sadek.
This year’s Chairman’s Award went to Café Javas for representing Uganda with pride and showcasing Uganda’s potential on the world stage.
The Corporate Social Responsibility on Environmental, Social, and Governance Award of the Year was won by Hima Cement.
Mbarara District Farmers Association (MADFA) won the Regional Association of the Year Award for inspiring farmers.
MTN Uganda emerged winner of the Telecom Institution of the Year award.
Uganda Baati was recognised as the Community Development Champion of the Year for its unwavering commitment to uplifting communities across Uganda.
Aroisha Organic Products Ltd emerged as the winner of the Women Organisation of the Year award for championing innovation and sustainability.
Earlier, dfcu Bank was honoured with an award for its unwavering support to the Private Sector Foundation Uganda.
The annual gala was graced by the captains of industry, leaders of commerce, key government officials and government agencies that promote private sector competitiveness.
