Uganda Wheelchair Basketball Federation is among those set to showcase their skills in the 2018 National Basketball League (NBL) today, Sunday at YMCA in Wandegeya.

“We are fielding 3 select teams of the best players, infused in the FUBA program and these will feature in the different matches for the coming eight weeks,” said Eng Mayanja Suleiman, the President Uganda Wheelchair Basketball Federation.

According to Eng Mayanja, the wheelchair basketball team will have one match every week for the coming eight weeks in the different fields and location.

He further revealed that they will be rotating as they work out to the finals of FUBA games as they build a strong team of skilled wheelchair players in the country.

However, before the 8th match can be played, a team from the Uganda Wheelchair Basketballers Federation are planning a special match with the best team on ground.

“We are in serious negotiations to have a match with city oilers, power or the warriors,” he said.

The implication of this is that the selected team with their able members will get on wheels and prove their worth in an all inclusive soccer fest.

Only time can tell which of the teams will emerge champion.

“If you enjoy City Oilers or Warriors, be sure to find an exciting game of Basketball on wheels as well when these teams come on edge with their games at YMCA tomorrow,” Mayanja noted yesterday.

With the notion that every win comes from good preparations, Makerere sports grounds was a beehive of activities as Wheelchair Basketball team series went down on serious training to cultivate the spirit of disability sports among their fans as well as inspire those with different abilities to embrace sport and be part of the greater sports movement.

Below is a pictorial of what transpired at the prep games.
