“From the testimonies, I have heard of how the people of Kazo and Greater Mbarara convinced and encouraged themselves and their children to join the revolution and fight against bad governance; we can’t thank you enough,” said Hon. Ssempijja.

The Minister reiterated that the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces are using the Tarehe Sita week-long activities to thank the people for supporting the revolution which brought about a fundamental change in Uganda.

The Chief of Defence Forces, General Wilson Mbadi in his speech that was read by Major General Don Nabasa, the Commandant of the Military Police Brigade, thanked corporate companies that have made contributions and support towards this year’s Tarehe Sita Anniversary Celebrations.

Speaking at the same function, Hon. Dan Kimosho, the Member of Parliament for Kazo Constituency said that the success of the revolution was a long process that demanded a lot of sacrifices and he said that he was proud to be part of those who have sustained the principles of the revolution.

Hon. Kimosho, however, said that for the sake of sustaining the gains of the revolution, there is a need to go back to the basics and he called for the deepening of Political Education and Ideological training. He urged the UPDF to join the fight against corruption which he said is a threat to the gains of the revolution.

The Deputy Chief Political Commissar, Colonel Nelson Aheebwa said that the choice of the Greater Mbarara Sub Region as the main focus of the 42nd Tarehe Sita Celebrations is particularly informed by a need to trace and link the current peace security, stability, and development, to the earlier efforts in the struggle, particularly, the anti-Amin Front for National Salvation, (FRONASA), and document their contributions in the struggle to liberate this country.

Present at the launch were Members of Parliament, the 2 Infantry Division Commander, Maj Gen Bib Ogiki, Brig Gen Keith Katungi, Generals, Senior Officers, and leaders from Greater Mbarara, among others.
