The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has conferred acting ranks on three senior Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) officers in recognition of their outstanding service to the nation.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, the following officers received well-deserved promotions:
Major General Francis Okello has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
Colonel Godfrey Karugaba has been elevated to the rank of Brigadier General.
Colonel Paddy Ankunda has also been promoted to Brigadier General.
“These promotions are a reflection of the officers’ dedication, discipline, and exceptional contribution to the UPDF and Uganda’s national security,” the statement read.
The UPDF fraternity has congratulated the newly promoted Generals, commending them for their meritorious service and leadership.
The promoted officers will assume their new responsibilities with immediate effect.
