Over 800 people received healthcare services in Lweza B, Makindye Sabagabo, Wakiso District.
This was at a health camp organized by Lweza Community Health Program, a Community Based Organisation (CBO) established lto promote Primary Health Care (PHC) including palliative care.
The two-days annual medical camp took place at Hajji Musana Kasaawe, where free free health care services were brought closer to the community to promote good health.
Speaking at the health camp, Rose Kiwanuka the chairperson LCHP, said the number exceeded their expectations, adding that most patients were suffering from Malaria and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
She revealed that patients who needed advanced management which was not at the camp, were referred to the respective specialities for further management.
Speaking at the event, the guest of honour, Kintu Alex Brandon, MP Kagoma North Constituency, thanked Lweza community for inventing and organizing such a successful health camp.
“Initially communities don’t take such things serious, health is very critical for communities. We are all interested in living in a healthy community, a Health community will lead to a good economy.” He said.
Adding, “As parliament we shall support the health sector. When doing our appropriation, we shall take exceptions. I have also asked them to come to my area in Kagoma we replicate the camp.”
The MP donated a tent and Shs1 million to the Lweza community health Program.
