Out of the 55,991 registered candidates, 49,704 candidates were registered to sit for the National Certificate in all the Vocational Training Institutes (VTIs), and 5,966 were registered for Skills Development centres.
These undertake programmes that train after Senior four or equivalent and Primary seven, respectively.
The Board has also registered a total of 123 (44 Female and 79 Male) candidates with special needs pursuing various TVET programmes.
The board will deploy over 108 support personnels to help special Needs candidates sit for assessment. These include sign language interpreters, transcribers, and guides.
According to Onesmus Oyesigye, UVTAB Executive Secretary, the Board has also registered and successfully conducted the assessment of 30,288 candidates who underwent practically acquired skills from informal TVET since April 2025.
“The Board is working on streamlining the assessment of trainees from informally acquired skills TVET, and the schedule shall be published once all quality assuranceprocesses have been concluded,” Oyesigye noted.
A total of 485 Scouts will be deployed to ensure that all assessments are done in accordance with the TVET Act No.3 of 2025,Sections 101-108 on offences and penalties for involvement in assessment malpractices.
Given the unique nature of competence-based assessment, the Board will deploy 2,259 Practical Assessors/Verifiers to conduct on-spot practical assessments of candidates.
The Board commenced the delivery of all assessment materials to the designated storage facilities across the country on August 9, 2025, with the help of the Uganda Police Force.
Oyesigye appealed to Heads of Centres to display on notice boards the candidates’ registers, offences and penalties stipulated by the TVET Act No.3 of 2025 to create awareness among the candidates.
