A record number of 137,546 candidates across the country are set to sit for the November–December Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) examinations, which officially commence on Monday.

The Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) has confirmed that the assessments, which began with a briefing on Friday, 21 November, will run until December 18, 2025 across 743 centres nationwide.

Speaking to the press on Saturday, Onesmus Oyesigye, the Executive Secretary of UVTAB, confirmed that candidates at all 743 centres had been briefed and ready to begin their assessments on Monday, 24 November 2025.

“This is the largest assessment we have ever conducted. Out of the total candidates, 80,654 are male and 56,892 are female, reflecting almost full enrolment of eligible students in technical and vocational education and training programmes.”

Oyesigye noted that 22,212 candidates are registered for Modular and Full Occupational Level 1, 2, and Worker’s Pass assessments.

“We have also ensured inclusivity by registering 338 candidates with special needs, who will receive support from sign language interpreters, transcribers, and guides,” he added.

The board has deployed over 150 support personnel for candidates with special needs, as well as 920 scouts and more than 3,500 practical assessors to conduct assessments in compliance with the TIVET Act and UVTAB regulations.

Candidates will undertake both summative examinations and practical assessments, producing items of market value to demonstrate industry-ready skills.

Oyesigye emphasized the importance of compliance and warned against malpractice.

“We strongly caution all candidates and the public against engaging in any form of assessment malpractice, which carries severe penalties under the law.”

With over 137,500 candidates participating, the November-December 2025 assessment series marks UVTAB’s largest and most comprehensive exercise to date, reflecting Uganda’s growing investment in technical and vocational education.
