Over 12,800 students will graduate from Kyambogo University at the upcoming 18th Graduation Ceremony scheduled for December 7, 8, and 9.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Eli Katunguka, said this is the highest number of students the university is graduating from since its inception.
The large figure is comprised of about 5,831 females and 6,239 males from the main campus, Bushenyi and Soroti learning centres.
He attributed this big number to the decentralization of academic issues to the faculty level, which was implemented this year.
Over 250 students will be graduating with first-class degrees. Five graduands will be awarded Doctorate (PhD degrees) and the rest Bachelor’s Degree programme transcripts, Masters, Diploma and Certificate.
He revealed that all students from their study centres in Mbale and Soroti are slated to graduate at the main campus and are expected to come with their parents.
“During the three-day graduation, other students on campus will stay at home to ease the movement of staff and graduands.”
The Vice-Chancellor also revealed that eight students who had earlier been cleared were scrapped off the list for altering marks.
He says this followed complaints by genuine students who were missing from the graduation list that questioned how their colleagues who had retakes were on the list while they were left out.
