The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and the FARDC have rescued 38 abductees including women and children born in captivity.
This follows an intelligence-led operation against an enemy group east of the Ibiena River in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The operation is part of the wider Operation Shujaa.
According to Defence Spokesperson, Brig Gen Felix Kulaigye, the operation also resulted in significant casualties and demoralization for the enemy, who were forced to surrender eight (08) SMGs and one (01) PK machine gun.
“As we pursue the ADF terrorists, we congratulate our generals, officers, and men who participated in Operation Shujja and wish the combined forces many more successes in the defence of our territorial integrity,” Kulayigye noted.
