Africa’s largest music festival, Uganda Waragi Nyege Nyege, is set to return from November 14-17 with its 9th edition, promising an unparalleled experience. This year’s festival introduces “Nyege In The City,” a daytime program designed to showcase Jinja City’s hidden gems.

According to Francis Nyende, Marketing Manager at Uganda Breweries, “We are dedicated to showcase the best of Uganda, from its rich heritage to vibrant music, culture, food, and fashion.” Uganda Waragi, the festival’s title sponsor, aims to deliver a uniquely Ugandan experience.

The “Nyege In The City” program will offer guided tours, fine dining experiences, water-based activities on the Nile, and cultural encounters. This initiative is a result of the festival’s partnership with Jinja City Authorities, aimed at driving socio-economic impact and providing opportunities for local service providers.

“We are working closely with Jinja City Authorities to bring forth new experiences outside the festival grounds,” said Aly Alibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group. “Our goal is to give revelers a deeper appreciation of Jinja City and Uganda as a whole.”

The main festival grounds at Jinja Golf Course have been beautifully landscaped to ensure a condensed and intimate layout, designed to heighten the festival’s energy.

The evening program will feature performances on multiple stages, including the Dark Star Stage, Spirit of Uganda Stage, Main Stage, Hakuna Kulala Stage, Uganda Waragi Stage, and Reggae Stage, headlined by Cali P from Jamaica.

This year’s lineup boasts an impressive array of local and international talent, including Teso megastar Patrick Atude, cultural performances from the Batwa Dance Group, and special appearances from Soweto’s Legendary selector RMBO and Norwegian folk noise artist Stuurle Garland.

Nyege Nyege Festival CEO Derek Debru emphasized the event’s focus on highlighting Uganda’s creative and cultural sector. “We’re providing a platform for budding creatives to showcase their talent and uniting revelers in the diverse Ugandan culture through partnerships with regional cultural festivals and dance troupes.”

With its unique blend of music, culture, and adventure, Nyege Nyege Festival 2024 is poised to cement Jinja City’s status as a premier destination for entertainment and tourism. Get your tickets now and experience the magic of Uganda’s largest music festival.
