NRM’s Kwizera Wa-gahungu wins Bukimbiri County By-election

NRM’s Kwizera shortly being declared the winner of Bukimbiri County by-election

Eddie Kwizera Wa-gahungu, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, has won the Bukimbiri County by-election.

Kwizera was declared the winner by the Kisoro district returning officer, Nayebare Daniel, after he garnered the most votes.

“Accordingly, as Returning Officer for Kisoro Electoral District and in accordance with Section 58(1) of the Parliamentary Elections Act, 2005 (as Amended), I declare Kwizera Eddie Wa-gahungu who has obtained the largest number of votes, to be the elected candidate for Bukimbiri County Constituency, Kisoro Electoral District,” Nayebare noted.

Wa-gahungu garnered 12,214 votes followed by Independent candidate, Turyagyenda Asgario, with 10105 votes.

Another independent candidate, Mutabazi Edward, got 308 votes while the Forum for Democratic Change Candidate, Owebeyi James, got 280 votes.
