The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is mourning the passing of Ambassador Dr Hassan Wasswa Galiwango who died in Kenya.
“The National Resistance Movement fraternity has learnt with great sadness, the untimely death of Ambassador Dr Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, which occurred this morning, Monday 16th January 2023; at Nairobi Hospital in the Republic of Kenya, where he has been receiving specialized medical attention,” said NRM Secretary General, Todwong Richard Awany.
At the time of his untimely demise, Ambassador Galiwango has been serving as Uganda High Commissioner to the Republics of Kenya, Seychelles and also as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme and the UN-HABITAT, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Prior to his appointment as High Commissioner on 16th June 2021, he served for 11 years as the Director of Finance and Administration at the National Resistance Movement Secretariat and also as District Administrator in the office of the President.
“He has been a dedicated Patriot, a seasoned Administrator, a budding entrepreneur; a sports philanthropist and promoter; a distinguished diplomat and above all, a loyal cadre of the National Resistance Movement. Much of his adult life was spent in the public service of Uganda, which contribution will be greatly missed now that he is no more,” said Todwong.
“At this sad moment of bereavement, my thoughts and that of the party fraternity, are with the immediate family members, friends and all those whose lives and livelihoods were touched by the selfless generosity of Ambassador Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango.”
He added: “The National Resistance Movement stands in solidarity with you at this time of your loss, in recognition of his selfless service rendered to the party and country. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. May Allah, the Most Merciful and Most Gracious, rest the Soul of Ambassador Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango in Eternity.”
