The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus has reached a resolution to maintain the incumbent East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) members in recognition of their exceptional performance to continue their tenure for another term as Members of the East African Legislative Assembly.
According to a letter signed by the NRM Secretary-General, Richard Todwong, this was in regard to a meeting of the Caucus in the 11th Parliament which sat at Kololo Friday 16th of September 2022, having received and considered the resolutions of the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) made on the 8th of July 2022.
He further revealed that they resolved that the NRM Parliamentary Caucus unanimously endorses the incumbent EALA members to the Parliament as NRM candidates for the position of Members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
These are; Akol Rose Okullu, Kakooza James, Mugyenyi Mary, Musamali Paul Mwasa, Namara Dennis and Odongo George Stephen.
Earlier, the Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, set September 29 as the date for elections of Ugandan representatives to EALA.
He noted that nominations for candidates will be conducted on September 19- 20.
The current term for EALA MPs expires on December 17, 2022.
