Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Norbert Mao, has met Justine Ssanyu Nakajumba, the mother of incarcerated Kawempe North Member of Parliament, Muhammad Ssegirinya.
Nakajumba was at Mao’s office appealing to him to look into the matters of her son and help him regain his freedom.
“Today (Tuesday), I met Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya’s mother at my office at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. We were joined by the Chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission, Mariam Wangadya, who was visiting,” said Mao on social media.

He added: “I assured her that the right to a fair trial is paramount!”
On Monday, Nakajumba accompanied by the wife of Hon Ssegirinya, Twahirah Akandinda, attempted to meet Mao at his office, but were advised to return another day since the minister was unavailable.
The Kawempe North legislator and his Makindye West Colleague, Allan Ssewanyana, were first arrested on September 7, 2021, with seven others in connection to the machete killings in the Greater Masaka district.
