The National Information Technology Authority–Uganda (NITA-U) has announced a major digital initiative that promises to significantly modernise how the government delivers services to citizens.
In partnership with technology firm AlphaX, NITA-U is developing UGOV, an integrated digital ecosystem designed to bring all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) onto a single, unified platform. The system will streamline service delivery, enhance efficiency, and enable faster, more meaningful engagement between government and the public.
The initiative was presented during a stakeholder engagement workshop held at the Serena Hotel in Kampala, attended by representatives from multiple MDAs who were introduced to the platform’s features and its role in bridging long-standing gaps in government–citizen interaction.

“UGOV marks a new chapter in Uganda’s digital evolution,” said Julian M. Rweju, Acting Director of E-Government Services at NITA-U. “By unifying government services onto a single platform, we are making public service delivery simpler, smarter and accessible to every citizen, regardless of where they live.”
Rweju urged all government institutions to adopt the platform collectively, emphasising that synergy across MDAs will be critical for Uganda to advance in global digital competitiveness and cement its position as a leader in digital transformation.

Speaking on behalf of AlphaX, Timos Tokousbalides, the company’s Creative Director, said the platform is designed with a citizen-first mindset.
“From the beginning, our mission has been to create a platform that people can truly call their own,” he noted. “When citizens feel the service belongs to them—familiar, trusted and rooted in their identity—that is when real adoption and meaningful engagement begin.”

As part of the rollout plan, NITA-U has designated change agents across MDAs who will champion the platform within their institutions. These ambassadors will raise awareness, build user confidence, and support the seamless integration of e-services across government entities.
With digital transformation reshaping public expectations globally, NITA-U says Uganda remains committed to making government services faster, easier to access and more transparent. Through the UGOV initiative and its partnership with AlphaX, the Authority reaffirms its mission to improve the lives of citizens through ICT and strengthen Uganda’s leadership in digital governance.
