The newly appointed Commander of the Land Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, has officially been pipped as a three-star army general.
Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga was last week promoted from the rank of Maj General to Lt General by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, replacing Muhoozi Kinerugaba now promoted to the rank of full General.
Muhanga was pipped by Retired Gen Salim Saleh, Gen of the Resistance and Senior Presidential Advisor for Defence, and Kayanja’s wife at Bombo Military Barracks, in a ceremony officiated by the Chief of Defence Forces, General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi.

Lt Gen Muhanga was officially handed office as the Chief Land Forces.
Muhanga has been serving as the commander of the mountain division and Operation Shujaa that was launched on November 30 2021 to fight terrorism ADF rebels in DR Congo.
