Graduands from Ndejje University, have been tipped on financial management, and warned against unnecessary loans.
Gorreti Serunkuma Lukwago, the Officer in charge of Commercial Clients and Business at Stanbic Bank told the students to be careful when choosing who they need to approach when seeking capital.
“These money lenders will give you money at a highest interest rate and take away everything you have yet we have here unsecured loans for fresh graduates. We have the initiative for starters or new salary earners, we teach them, we have a business incubator where we train people and later fund our startups,” she added.
Adding, “To manage finances, you need to know the principles. Financial literacy is the understanding of these principles.”
She made these remarks at an event to commemorate a Commencement Lecture organized by Ndejje University in Kampala in preparation for its graduation that will take place on October 15.
Dr. Mary Mutyaba Wanda, the Academic Registrar of Ndejje University noted that the lecture is used to prepare students for pre and after graduation
She noted that they call different speakers, “who enlighten our graduates in the real work world.”
She asked graduands to ensure that they don’t rely only on the profession they have studied but also engage in other businesses.
In his key note address, Muhamed Kakiika, a prominent lecture urged graduates to be innovative.
