The National Drug Authority (NDA) has intercepted L-Power Coffee which has been found to be adulterated with Tadalafil, an erectile dysfunction prescription drug with serious side effects including respiratory and cardiac complications.
According to Abiaz Rwamwiri, the Public Relations Manager, the NDA’s imports control team intercepted a consignment of L-Power coffee which was being concealed as a nutritional supplement.
He noted samples were sent to the Quality Control Laboratory which came out positive.
NDA has since directed all pharmacies, Drug shops, supermarkets, online shops or any drug and health nutritional supplements dealers to stop with immediate effect stocking, sale, distribution or dealing in L-Power Coffee.
The importers of L-Power have formally been advised to take full responsibility for its destruction and recall (collect off the market) any products that could have been sneaked into Uganda.
Meanwhile, Rwamwiri noted that the authority, together with other law-enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate the matter to ensure that those who are responsible are held to account.
