The National Drug Authority (NDA) has banned the Importation and sale of M-Magix coffee on the Ugandan market after it was found containing Sildenafil Citrate.
According to Dr. Dennis Mwesigwa, the Director of Inspection and Enforcement at NDA, the decision was reached at, after a laboratory analysis of the M-Magix Coffee samples picked from the market.
Mwesigwa said that the sample results confirmed that the product (M-Magix Coffee, claimed to be keeping men strong) was adulterated with Sildenafil Citrate.
Sildenafil Citrate is a drug for erectile dysfunction which must be used under strict prescription by qualified medical personnel as it has serious side effects which include extreme abdominal complications, respiratory and heart problems, renal failure, and sometimes leading to coma, and even death.
Mwesigwa revealed that they have directed the importer of M-Magix Coffee to stop importation and recall all the supplied batches of this product with immediate effect.
He also directed all pharmacies, drug shops, supermarkets and the general merchandize shops to stop sale or stocking the product.
“The public is strongly warned against using “M-Magix Coffee”. We call upon the public to be vigilant and report all suspicious products on the market that could be adulterated to NDA,” Mwesigwa noted.
