The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Kale Kayihura has made a new reshuffle with some officers appointed to new postings. This is contained in a message to all units across the country.
The message dated December 15, 2017 by the IGP states that the changes take immediate effect.
Those affected by the reshuffle include Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Mwesigwa Good who has been transferred from Logistics and Engineering to Professional Standards Unit (PSU) as Commandant.
“SCP Mwesigwa Good will continue with auditing of fire arms as earlier directed,” Gen Kayihura orders in the message.
Kyomukama Kenny who has been serving the Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) in Karamoja has been appointed Commissioner of Police in charge of Classified Stores. Assistant Commissioner of Police Arinaitwe Cohen moves from the National Operations Centre Police Headquarters to ASTU as Commandant.
Orders to audit fire arms have been made in the wake of the recent shooting by socialite Brian White. Two Police officers were reportedly arrested over ‘lending’ a gun to the socialite.
While Police confirmed to media that White had shot one of his neighbours, he claims he acted as a good samaritan and drove the victim, Victor Bitwire to hospital when the latter was found lying helpless outside White’s gate.
