Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) has emerged the winner of the Ultimate University Quiz 2023 inaugural title.
The maiden Ultimate University Quiz was organised by the Vision Group. The award ceremony was also held at New Vision Offices in Kampala on Friday.
“We are extremely proud of the performance you have showcased. Congratulations Team,” said MUST in a statement on X.
MUST champions walked away with equipment worth Shs25m and the students together with their coach, will each get Sh1sm plus a laptop.
MUST was represented by a team of four students; Ahirirwe Leticia, Edgar Reagan Ssenyonga, Atukwaase Vitah and Silver Evans Makanga.
They were coached by; Ms. Angella Nakato Muyingo, the MUST Public Relations Officer (PRO) who was the lead coach of the team; Mr. Solomon Agum, the Principal Assistant Academic Registrar responsible for Admissions, Records and Alumni Engagement who assisted with selection and research for the team and HE. Musa Kiyemba, the Guild President who assisted with team selection.
“We would like to thank the organizers of the Ultimate University Quiz, New Vision and Bank of Uganda together with their sponsors Centenary Bank, Georgina Optical and production team Netstudios for this platform,” the university management said.
It added: “The Ultimate University Quiz has not only given our students a chance to showcase their brilliance but also put up-country universities like Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) on the national stage.”
The the second place was Uganda Christian Univerity (UCU) which was the toughest contender.
“We are proud of our students who represented us in the Ultimate University Quiz 2023. They managed to secure the second position out of 16 inaugural universities,” UCU said on X.
It added: Each participant has received a brand new laptop and Shs500,000 in cash. Additionally, the university will receive Shs15,000,000 worth of equipment and computers.”
In the third place was Victoria Univerity, Kampala.
“Embarking on the journey to revolutionize the nation’s education, skeptics doubted, many overlooked, and some questioned our methods. We stand firm in the game of incrementalism. Keep an eye on this space, and you will witness the transformation,” said Victoria University on X.
It added: “So, last night, we were announced Second Runners Up in the Ultimate University Challenge that brought together all the country’s 16 Chartered Universities.”
