Entebbe, Wakiso District – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flagbearer for the 2026 general elections, has called on residents of Wakiso District to closely monitor the utilisation of government development funds to ensure they are used for their intended purpose.
“The money for the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga is there, and the people who steal that money can be easily arrested because they are here with us in Uganda,” President Museveni said.

The President, who was accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, made the remarks on Monday while addressing an NRM campaign rally at the Entebbe Municipality playgrounds.
President Museveni revealed that the government has increased funding under the Parish Development Model to Shs300 million and has also established a special fund targeting leaders, market vendors, mechanics and fishing communities, aimed at improving livelihoods through wealth creation.

“Own up to the PDM programme to counter corrupt officials,” he urged the gathering.
He further noted that the NRM government has laid a stable foundation across key sectors that employ millions of Ugandans. He challenged residents of Wakiso to take advantage of job opportunities arising from planned developments in industries, commercial agriculture, services such as tourism, as well as skills training and artisanship.

The President also assured residents of Entebbe and Wakiso District of the government’s commitment to completing major road projects, including the Kisubi–Nakawuka–Mpigi road and the Nakawuka–Nateete road, as well as other ongoing infrastructure works, to enhance mobility and support business growth.
At the same rally, President Museveni cautioned voters against what he described as opportunistic opposition politicians who, he said, often frustrate government development programmes. He urged residents to support NRM flag bearers for effective service delivery.

On her part, Maama Janet Museveni attributed the development gains registered in Entebbe and Wakiso District to the NRM’s strategic approach rooted in peace and stability. She reminded residents of the party’s role in Uganda’s progress over the years.
“God has used the NRM government, President Museveni and the UPDF to protect the peace, unity and stability in Uganda all these many years,” Maama Janet said, as she rallied voters to support President Museveni and other NRM candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

The NRM First National Vice Chairperson, Alhaji Moses Kigongo, called on party members in Entebbe and Wakiso to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls, urging discipline and mutual respect among NRM cadres during and after the elections.
Meanwhile, the NRM Second National Vice Chairperson and Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, highlighted several development projects implemented in Wakiso District under the NRM government. These include the Shs35 billion Lubugumu–Busabala road project, the Shs15.5 billion Kitoolo–Kawuku road, the Shs23 billion Entebbe–Nakiwogo road, and a planned bridge at Nakiwogo.

She rallied residents of Entebbe and Wakiso District to vote for the NRM, citing continued infrastructure development and service delivery as key priorities under the party’s leadership.
